Most things get heavier the moment they start auditioning for witnesses. The dinner has to feed people, sure, but it'd also be nice if someone noticed who cooked it. The Zhuangzi (say "jwahng-dzuh") keeps dropping pieces of the scoreboard: no self to defend, no merit to count, no fame to collect. That's a tall order before breakfast, so try the pocket-size version. Do one necessary thing this morning without mentioning it, photographing it, or checking whether anyone noticed. Let the finished thing be the only receipt.
The Perfect man has no (thought of) self; the Spirit-like man, none of merit; the Sagely-minded man, none of fame.
Zhuangzi, ch. 1, "Enjoyment in Untroubled Ease" (trans. James Legge)
